It would have been a big risk to set up in a high rent location for our first stand and it definitely was not in our best interest cash flow wise. What was most important was to test our product and service in an inconvenient location. This would tell us if we truly had a winner or not. If we set up in a high traffic place at first, sure many would have tried it but we would never known for sure what level of a winner we were sitting on unless we tried it out in a challenging location. I know this is hard for some to understand. In fact it sounds little bit crazy. But think about it, it is easy to sell someone once. But to sell to someone in a place they normally would not buy? And have them return over and over again. See what I mean? That marketing information is INVALUABLE!
We did not have to worry about someone else taking the best locations because we were the only game in town. No one else had a sugarcane juicing machine in the province and the only one's available commercially at that time were low quality models So we had a good window to test market our product. It took off really well! Our repeat customer rate was nearly 100%. We were so happy!
